Sounds of South Asia Series presents a cross-cultural collaboration between All India Radio artist Dr. Shruti Jauhari, Ensemble ISIS (conductor: John Traill), and British composer Des Oliver. Jauhari sings a collection of Hindustani works, followed by Ensemble ISIS performing Maurice Delage’s Quatre poèmes hindous (1912), a piece influenced by the classical music of India, and sung here by Oxford student Hannah McDermott. The concert ends with a new work by Oliver and performed by Jauhari, Janan Sathiendran on the tabla, and Ensemble Isis.
