The start of my year has again been filled with education and outreach, with performances reaching 2000+ young ears when considering the CSO Family Concerts and OCYO Concerts for Schools combined. The music has ranged from Strauss Also Sprach Zarathustra to Pixar’s Toy Story!, with a particular emphasis on story telling.
If that wasn’t enough for the first three months of the year, education work has also seen concerts with OCYO in the Oxford Philharmonic (the orchestra in residence at the University of Oxford) ‘Oxford Beethoven Festival’, a premiere of the winning entrance of the Oxfordshire Composition Competition, accompanying the final of Oxfordshire Concerto Competition, and delivering symphonic conducting workshops for the Oxford Conducting Institute (Oxford University).
I have also been fortunate to again adjudicate the young musician competition at Cokethorpe school, and conduct composition workshops with Ensemble ISIS, the St Anne’s Camerata, and the Oxford Philharmonic for the Burford Institute of Music and Oxford University, respectively.
A busy, but incredibly rewarding, three months.
